Week 3 Blog

  The current debates about technology that interests me are both robots in the workplace and the role of artificial intelligence. Both of these options have come a long way, and it seems every time you get information on both of these, they are becoming more advanced and even better than it was before. But better technology doesn’t always mean better for us. It’s a little weird to have AI become so advanced and up-to-date with everything going on in your life. The same goes for robots in the workplace. I think it’s a little weird to have that because it should be real human people working there. Not robots checking you in or other jobs in the workplace. If I am being honest, I do not really listen to or engage with a lot of opposing ideas about technologies role in society. But I do have other courses where we learn about similar things. Week 2 Blog

  Regarding the week 1 entry, I chose my laptop. I use this technology for many reasons. The main one being to get my coursework done for school and using my laptop during class times. I also use my laptop for entertainment, like Netflix and other streaming services. Or sometimes for playing silly games like the sims. The purpose is great for me. If not for my laptop, I would not have an easy means to getting my work done. The message this technology says about my values could be that I value my school work. I could also be seen as being too absorbed in my technology and not focusing on the little things. My daily life would be very different without my laptop. As I said, I would have no easy access to getting my homework done for school. When I did go a few months without a laptop, I borrowed from my family or friends for the time being. Week 1 Blog

       The technology I use on a daily basis is my laptop. I have only a loving relationship with my laptop. Using it makes me feel good, because one of the main reasons why I use my laptop is to get my coursework done. When I finish my course work I feel very accomplished and happy with myself. I am sometimes on my laptop too much, which isn't good, but I also spend a lot of time off of my computer. I also use my computer for watching movies and tv shows if i don't feel like using my tv or phone. The only time I had a love/hate relationship with my laptop was when my puppies chewed the screen. A year and a half ago when I had my litter of puppies, there were still 2 pups who weren’t sold. They were around 8 weeks old so I started letting them sleep in my bed with me (what a mistake that night!). I had my computer on my bed watching youtube and accidentally fell asleep.
